THE WORST EVENT
I HAD EVER HOSTED
by MUHAMMAD FAIDHY ZAHIN BIN MOHD FAIROS(018892)
Managing an event
is not as easy as it sounds. It requires focus, discussions, teamwork,
patience, interpersonal skills and many more. This is because in order to
produce a smooth satisfactory result in managing events, many factors need to
be considered because what’s going to happen is unknown yet we still would try
our best in order to accomplish our goals.
Back in school, I would help to host an event with
my friend Faris as volunteers because we simply had nothing better to do.
Usually, the discussion and planning and whatnot would have gone smoothly. One
time however, we had to host an event a student council president election. I
had a candidate in mind that I would like to help being elected but Faris has
someone else in mind. Our reason was not considered bad. We just had different
ideals so he and I made a challenge to see who would win, thinking it would
made things more interesting.
The candidate I
propose was an old friend of mine who has influence and has always wanted to
lead the students in our school. I knew he could come up with creative things
in order to make school life more enjoyable but my ideal was that being able to
work under him would give be some benefit in understanding how such a
charismatic leader would guide his subordinates to a higher vision. Working
under him would also make my name known to the school. I knew if I was able to
help him became the student council president I could build a new reputation
for myself and plan to have a more fulfilling youth.
Faris however
thought that someone who follows the school rules seriously would be ideal.
This is because people who have excellent academics and is discipline could be
an example figure for the students of the school. Such an old fashioned way of
thinking and personally I thought it was boring so I decided to make
arrangements in order to secure my dream school life. I made a drastic measure
in sabotaging the rival candidate. I expose Faris’s candidate to the ‘darkness’
of the school. It was just as simple as students being lazy, unmotivated,
conflicts here and there so in all honesty it’s not something that big.
However, by exposing it to him little by little it would accumulate doubt and
stress for the candidate. This was he would ruin his reputation and trust from
the students as he slowly loses confidence in himself on handling the school.
It was all fun and games until it went downhill. Apparently, I pushed him too far that he broke and to make things worst not only did Faris was told about it, my candidate did as well because he was concerned as to why he won by default due to his rival’s absence during election. It seems I have reap what I sow. After all my efforts, everything has turned downhill. I lost me friends, my ambition, my reputation and most importantly, myself. I realized I was too selfish and too blind with my ideals thus I had to pay for the consequences. Afterword, my life was not the same anymore. Everyone despised me and I was left alone. If only I wasn’t too absorbed in making my ideals a reality by volunteering to such event my life would have been different. Truly, the worst event I had ever hosted that would haunt me for as long as I’m alive.
